Breathing and music are inextricably connected. As flutists, we know this very well, as do our friends who play other wind instruments or sing. But other musicians can also connect their breathing to their music, and find tremendous benefits. Focused and mindful breathing can also benefit dancers, actors, athletes, teachers, attorneys, public speakers, and more.
On Friday, June 23rd, The Global Flute Studio will be presenting a joint workshop with Lynn Saltiel, (LCSW, MSSW) of Move to Your Groove meditation and improvisation workshops:
Lunch and Learn: Mindful Breathing
We can all benefit from mindful breathing. The technical aspects of better breathing -- lung capacity, support, controlled release -- can aid with longer and more musical phrasing. The mental and emotional aspects of focused breathing can help us to subdue performance anxiety and dispel anxious thoughts. Learn how to improve the physical and technical aspects of breathing for performance, and engage in the therapeutic aspects of breathing for improved focus, concentration, and creativity.
